The engine itself incorporates a diaphragm-type carburettor, which ensures the ideal fuel/air mixture is maintained at all times for optimised performance; and it employs a premium automotive-style air-filter that works to extend engine-life, and which can be quickly accessed without using tools. The fuel-capacity is a generous 0.65-litres.
Also important when it comes to the engine is its decompression-valve and digitial CDI; a combination that makes getting started a reliable, low-effort operation.
The Echo CS-590 Petrol Chainsaw features friction-minimising automatic chain-lubrication, which can be manually overridden, thereby enabling you to reduce oil-consumption. The amount of oil that’s delivered to the cutting-gear can be adjusted to suit the type of wood you’re working with.
Despite its rock-solid build-quality and high-performance power-unit, the CS-590 weighs just 6kg.
